A father killed his three daughters before hanging himself while his wife was at work.
The girls’ 38-year-old mum, named in a police report as Deb Sok Neath, found her family dead when she got home from work.
The shocking incident took place in Cambodia, in the village of Ounha Veang, in the Sen Sok district of the capital Phnom Penh.
Local police report 40-year-old dad Chea Sokchum was at home with his three daughters Chum Meng Chou, 16, Chum Meng Chen, five, and Chum Meng Chien, four, when he seemingly strangled all three girls.
The mum told police that her husband had previously told her that he would kill one of their daughters but she thought he was joking.
The police report states they both went to work on the day of the incident but when she returned home the wife found the room locked from inside.
She began calling for her husband and daughters but when there was no answer she forced the door open, finding her three daughters dead inside, seemingly strangled.
Cambodia News English reports the husband was found hanged in the rented room where they lived.
Gruesome images released by police show the wounds to the father’s neck and the scene after he was taken down from the bar, surrounded by his dead daughters.
The local authorities are investigating the incident, with forensic doctors, district inspectors and local police working on the case.
No motive has been provided.
Cambodia is in South East Asia, bordered by Thailand to the northwest, Laos to the northeast, Vietnam to the east and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest.
It has a population of more than 15 million, with 97% of the population practising Buddhism, which is the official state religion.
